Welcome to the AURORA Connected Vehicle Test
Bed 2
The AURORA Connected Vehicle Testbed is an infrastructure project that:
- has been funded by Transport Canada
- is a US DOT Affilated Test Bed
- will be hosted at UBC
- will involve port authorities, terminal operators, freight
handlers, ITS developers, ACE manufacturers, and government agencies
- will advance the use of wireless technology for freight security
and efficiency
- will establish best practices for use of wireless technology in
Canada’s ITS Architecture
Current industry collaborators include Moovee Innovations, Novax Industries, and FP Innovations.
AURORA will permit a variety of connected vehicle technologies to be
evaluated under controlled conditions. Academic and industry collaborators are invited to help us develop
the testbed architecture and pursue CV projects.
The Roadside portion of the testbed will comprise both enhanced
roadside units that include interfaces to the traffic signal
controller, IP cameras, software defined radio modules, as well as
conventional RSUs and WiMAX CPEs, and basic roadside units that
include only conventional RSUs and WiMAX CPEs.
